Oily/Combination Skin: Control Shine Without Drying (Simple Guide)

Peau grasse/mixte : Contrôler la brillance sans dessécher (Guide simple)

Why the shine?

Male skin is more sebaceous and often has more visible pores; sebum production also tends to remain more stable with age. Comparative studies between men and women confirm these physiological differences.

The useful routine (without overdoing it)

1) Cleanse (60 s)

Foaming gel non-stripping: removes excess sebum without a "tight" feeling. Niacinamide = visibly refined pores; soothing agents to limit irritation.

2) Hydrate (natural matte finish)

Hydrating is not oiling: panthenol + HA strengthen the barrier and reduce discomfort, which helps... to better regulate shine. Clinical data show improved hydration/TEWL with panthenol.

3) Mask (12–15 min, 1–2×/week)

Gentle clays such as kaolin to absorb excess sebum without drying; benefits observed on oily/acne-prone skin in recent follow-ups.

Dosage & rhythm (the real game changer)

  • Morning: Cleanse 60 s → thin layer of cream (less on T-zone).

  • Evening: Cleanse 60 s → cream every other night if skin is comfortable.

  • Mask: two fixed appointments (e.g., Wednesday/Sunday).

Anti-shine checklist

Rinse lukewarm → cool, clean towel without rubbing, quick cleanse after sport/travel, avoid lotions with strong alcohol.

When to consult? Shine with inflammatory lesions, pain, subcutaneous nodules → suspected acne: dermatologist.
